Surgery Update

Our day started early, we arrived at Children's around 5:45 am. Truitt was not happy about us waking him up so bright and early. But he quickly was all smiles, flirting with all of the nurses. Typical Truitt, they all just love him.

Many of the tired hungry kids in the surgery unit were fussy and crabby, but not our Truitt, he was the trooper he always is!

Kicking and having a wonderful time. I am so glad he is still young enough to not know what is going on. Within about a half hour, after all the nurses and anesthesiologists took a look at him, he was fast asleep.

In fact, he slept until they wheeled him into the OR. It gave me some piece of mind knowing he was nice and comfortable, without a worry in the world. Dr. B was running a little late, so he wasn't taken back to the OR until around 8:25am, 25 minutes later than scheduled. Around 9am, Dr. B came out and said everything went well. Truitt did great with the anesthesia (my biggest concern, so that was so nice to hear) and he felt very confident about the success of the procedure.

After spending 2 very long hours in recovery, not sure why it was so long, he was brought back to his room. He looked very content, but was covering his eyes. It was so cute!

Besides the little bit of bloody tears, he looked great. I was happy to have him back in my arms. I think he was happy to be in them as well.

He has no restrictions following surgery, just blood shot eyes and some bleeding that may occur when he is tired or crying. We joked and told the nurses he needs a much scarier costume for Halloween if he is going to be crying blood. What a perfect time of year for that!

It is hard for me to see his eyes like that, and it could last for up to two weeks! I will try to post some pictures later, but beware, it is a little shocking at first.

Happy trick or treating!

Bless his heart...he looks so adorable in that hospital bed....I think he is so content because he knows he is getting the help he needs! So trusting that God will take care of him.... His little hands are clasped in prayer for sure.
