OSU Study

Our wonderful neighbor, Matt, is a Physical Therapist at OSU. The infant laboratory there is conducting a research study on children with neonatal strokes or other similar brain injuries (in Truitt's case, HIE). The study is being done to learn more about children with Cerebral Palsy and those that are at high risk. They are studying the muscular movements of healthy babies and babies with brain injuries to find ways to improve the therapies available to children with CP.

When Matt and Gena first informed us of the study and asked if we were interested, we quickly decided it would be a great thing to be a part of. While participating in this study we will receive ten observational therapies for Truitt, as well as meeting a therapist that specializes in CP. Each therapy will be roughly two hours in length and they will video-tape Truitt playing and reacting with toys.

I am such an advocate for anything that will better Truitt's therapy he receives and by participating in this study, we will be helping out many other families and children in our same situation. The timing is also perfect because as you all know, Truitt's therapy has been put on hold until we get our insurance back. Also, it's at OSU, doesn't get much better than helping out our beloved Buckeyes!
